Sailor's Cap. This cap belonged to John Kearn, Ship's Carpenter on HMS Satellite, a Corvette built in 1881. He was born on 8 July 1864, joined the Royal Navy in 1886, and purchased his discharge in 1890. During his time in the service, it was customary for a man to supply his own uniform. This cap is an example of that custom.

Donate
Your donation supports education programs for Alberta youth in grades K-12. Whether by handling artefacts or hearing veterans speak about their own experiences, students will leave The Military Museums with a new understanding of our military’s role in the world.
Make a donation of $10 or more and your name will be displayed on our digital Donor Recognition Wall. Twelve screens form the 160-inch wall display that shows three scrolling lists. You will receive a tax-deductable receipt for each contribution and your name will become a permanent part of The Military Museums’ history.
The Donor Recognition Wall bears the names of all donors who contribute to The Military Museums. The museum keeps a cumulative record of all donations so the more you contribute the higher your name is elevated. The Military Museums is very proud to recognize all contributions.
Individual donations of $100 or greater automatically receive an annual family membership to The Military Museums.
